蜀锦是我国重要的文化遗产和著名的传统工艺品，她与“宋锦”、“云锦”、“壮锦”并称为我国“四大名锦”，其中蜀锦又为“四大名锦"之首。早在1908年，在巴拿马博览会上荣获金奖。1917年，蜀锦在南洋博览会上夺得国际特奖。1937年，蜀锦又在美国纽约的万国博览会上获得”东方美人奖”。
四川桑蚕丝绸业起源很早，是中国蚕丝业发祥地之一，故称为“蚕丝古国”。战国时期，蜀锦已成为重要贸易品，并由此开辟了一条由成都出发，经云南、缅甸、印度、巴基斯坦到中亚的国际文化交流通道，即著名的“南方丝绸之路”。蜀汉置“锦官”，成都因此得名“锦官城”，又称“锦城”，灌锦之江曰“锦江”。当时蜀锦畅销全国，时人认为，中国之锦“成都独妙处”。蜀锦用于古今书画珍品的织造上，所织书画色彩古雅品质高贵。
成都是举世闻名的历史文化名城，以锦闻名，更显示出特有的文化风韵，蜀锦历数千载而不衰，也必将在今后焕发新机，必将成为四川的一张亮丽的文化名品。

As the important culture heritage and famous traditionaltechnology in our country, Sichuan Brocade is the beat of the topfour famous brocades in china, including “Yun Brocade”, “SongBrocade”, and “Zhuang Brocade ”. Early in 1908, it won the goldenprize in the Trade Fair of PANAMA. In 1917, Sichuan Brocade got theinternational special prize in the Fair of South Asia, and again itwon the East Beauty Prize in the World Fair in New York.
Sichuan province was one of the first areas to startSericulture, as the source of Chinese Sericulture , it was called“The ancient country of Sericulture” . During the ZHAN , SichuanBrocade had been the important merchandise, and people built a veryfamous road which began from Chengdu , through Yunnan province,Myanmar, Indian, and Pakistan, finally to the Middle Asia. Later ,it was called “Silk Road of South”. During SHU HAN, the governmentrenamed Chengdu “Brocade City”, and gave the name of “BrocadeRiver” to the river that across this city. At that time, SichuanBrocade was well-known in China. Only it could be called the bestbrocade of China.
As the famous city of history and culture, Chengdu is well-knownin the world. Famous for the Sichuan Brocade, it shows her specialculture features. After thousands of years, the Brocade stilllives, it must have good future to become a beautiful culture cardof Sichuan province.
