Michael为呼吁人类行动起来，保护自然和我们赖以生存的地球而作的伟大单曲。在这首歌中，Michael用淋漓的情感、高亢的高音嘶吼，流着泪诉说着一切正离我们而去的美好事物：“你有没有看到，地球在流泪，海岸在哭泣？一切和平呢？鲜花遍布的田野呢？属于你和我的所有梦想呢？神圣的土地被四分五裂……你是不是忘了在战争中哭着死去的孩子？”

Earth Song是一支非常具有现场感染力的作品，这首单曲首次表演时在1995年，在96年的英国音乐奖的颁奖典礼上现场表演了该曲。同年的世界音乐颁奖典礼上也有该曲的现场表演。96年的英国音乐奖的颁奖典礼上Michael Jackson表演“Earth Song”时出现了备受争议的一幕——某乐队成员Jarvis Cocker跳上舞台抗议MJ的救世主形象。尽管有此不快，这次英国音乐奖上的表演仍然成为了英国音乐奖的电视直播史上收视率最高的一次现场表演。后来在97年慕尼黑，以及“HIStory”文莱热身演出上以及所有的“HIStory”演唱会上都有表演。 我第一次看到得现场表演的录影，是97年Michael Jackson历史巡演德国慕尼黑演唱会 上的Earth Song。音乐结尾处的手拿向日葵的小女孩，挡在坦克前的Michael，以及被Michael感化的泪流满面的特种部队战士，都给人非常震撼的印象。
